About us

Top Dutch Solar Racing, founded in 2017 by Hanze University students Jeroen Brattinga, Frank Pot, Eldert Zeinstra, and Vincent Taselaar, unites young talent from MBO, HBO, and WO programs to advance sustainable mobility. Using their electrical and mechanical engineering expertise, the founders and 22 motivated teammates built Green Lightning, which placed 4th (best Dutch team) at its first Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in 2019 and won the Excellence in Engineering Award for outstanding design on a debut entry.

Top Dutch Solar Racing is a multidisciplinary solar racing team from Groningen, Netherlands, independent of any single technical university. Its members—students from MBO, HBO, and WO institutions—bring diverse strengths to the project. Governed by the Solar Racing Groningen foundation, also student-run, the team handles all aspects of vehicle construction, communications, sponsorship, and travel logistics. United by the goal of building the most efficient solar car and representing the North of the Netherlands, Top Dutch Solar Racing competes in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, the iLumen European Solar Challenge, and the Moroccan Solar Challenge.

We create technological innovations for present and future generations and cultivate students into open-minded professionals. We excel at surpassing personal and technological limits, valuing continuous development.
